Materials and sheet thicknesses

Which materials we process most often and up to what thickness: the limits of our machine park at a glance, so you know before enquiring whether your sheet metal part is feasible here. We are not tied to the materials in the tables – whatever your part calls for, we source it.

Sheet thickness by material

MaterialLaser cuttingPunch-laserGuillotine shear
Steelup to 25 mmup to 8 mmup to 6 mm
Stainless steelup to 25 mmup to 6 mmup to 4 mm
Aluminiumup to 25 mmup to 5 mmup to 6 mm
Copperup to 10 mmup to 3 mm
We also process spring steel and hot-rolled sheet; the possible thicknesses are something we confirm from your drawing. The table covers the most common materials, but it is not a closed list: if your part needs a different one, we source it. If your part falls outside these limits we will say so and work out an alternative with you.

The largest sheet format is 4 × 2 m on the TruLaser 3040 fiber, and the longest bendable part is around 4 m on the TruBend 5230.

The materials in detail

Steel

The material with the widest range here: laser cutting up to 25 mm, punching up to 8 mm, bending up to 4 m long. Spot welding for steel sheet up to 3 × 3 mm and stud welding from M3 to M10.

Stainless steel

Laser cutting up to 25 mm and up to 6 mm on the punch-laser combination. Stud welding to DIN EN ISO 13918 in stainless as well. Surfaces on request by wide-belt grinding up to 1350 mm working width or sandblasting.

Aluminium

Laser cutting up to 25 mm, punching up to 5 mm, shearing up to 6 mm. Stud welding in aluminium from 2 to 8 mm. Deburring and grinding happen in our own workshop.

Copper

Laser cutting up to 10 mm and up to 3 mm on the punch-laser combination. For thicker sections we agree the process case by case.

Spring steel

Processed here; the possible thicknesses depend on the condition of the material and are confirmed from your drawing.

Hot-rolled sheet

Processed on the laser and the punch-laser combination. Sandblasting, wide-belt grinding and vibratory grinding are available for the surface.

Other materials

This list is not a limit. If your part calls for a material that is not shown above, we source it – simply name it in your enquiry. Whether and up to what thickness it can be worked on our machines is something we confirm from your drawing.

Which process suits your part depends less on the material than on the geometry: thick sheet and large formats go to the laser, while thin sheet with many identical cut-outs and formings goes to the punch-laser combination. We will tell you which is cheaper.
